Lighting Designer


Andrew Ellis is a freelance lighting designer with experience in straight plays, modern dance, classical ballet, concerts, devised theatre, youth theatre, comedy and musicals.
Since graduating from Central School of Speech and Drama with a first class honours degree in Theatre Practice in 2005, Andrew has expanded his experience, designing shows in venues as diverse as the White Bear Theatre Kennington and Sadlers Wells.

Current Projects
In 2005 Andrew won the ALD prize in the Michael Northern Bursary for his work on "Tin Drum" at Central School of Speech and Drama. The bursary is awarded yearly and was set up to reward students who show exemplary talent in lighting design.

Lighting design for "Moby Dick the Musical" for Surrey Youth Theatre, "The End of the World" - an evening of debauchery at the Urdang, Clerkenwell and National Youth Ballet's 2008 season at Hackney Empire and Birimingham Hippodrome. In addition, Andrew is a regular production electrician and designer for Bernie Grant Arts Centre and the Urdang Academy, and is Technical Manager for Robert Hylton Urban Classicism.
