Lighting Designer


Andrew Ellis is a lighting designer specialising in lighting for dance. He has also worked extensively in youth theatre, on musicals and plays.
Since graduating from Central School of Speech and Drama with a first class honours degree in Theatre Practice in 2005, Andrew has expanded his experience, designing shows in venues as diverse as the White Bear Theatre Kennington and Sadlers Wells.

Current Projects
Andrew's lighting for Cloud Dance Festival was recently acknowledged in a review oon LondonDance - "Joss Arnott Dance utilised strong dancers, sharp choreography and fantastic lighting by Andrew Ellis."   See the full review here

In 2005 Andrew won the ALD prize in the Michael Northern Bursary for his work on "Tin Drum" at Central School of Speech and Drama. The bursary is awarded yearly and was set up to reward students who show exemplary talent in lighting design.

Forthcoming work includes a short tour of  "Adventures in Anti-Cool" for Makin Projects and the premiere of "The Rainbow Bear" for National Youth Ballet.

Recent work includes design for several companies at Cloud Dance Festival, as well as technical management for the festival, several productions for Urdang Academy, Lewisham College and "Charlie's Empire" for Surrey Youth Theatre.

A major UK and international tour for Balletboyz, featuring several pieces with Andrew's design, will begin in Spring 2011.
